The idea for this blog developed out of my belief that while the issues facing Congress and the President are becoming both more complex and more politicized, the general American populous remains consistently underinformed and/or overly influenced by misleading, partisan advertising.

This blog will attempt to inform people by laying out major political issues in concise and informative "handbooks" in order to provide a simple alternative for those who want to be more politically informed but do not have the time to search for the information themselves.

As a news junkie, I will also post relevant news, analysis, and articles. Thank you so much for reading and i hope that you enjoy!

Alan Grayson to Run For Congress Again in 2012

Alan Grayson, the liberal firebrand who lost to Tea-Party backed candidate Daniel Webster in 2010, is at it again.

According to the WFTV Orlando,

U.S. Congressman Alan Grayson is running for office again.
On Monday, Grayson said he doesn't plan to do anything different. He said he's running again because of all the people who have reached out and asked him to. Grayson already raised nearly $100,000 in donations before filing his paperwork on Monday.
Grayson is most prominently known for a number of highly controversial statements and ads that he released both while serving in Congress in 2008 and while campaigining for re-election. Below is an ad that the Grayson campaign released painting Webster as "Taliban Dan" and showing a seemingly incriminating quote of Webster quoting the bible, saying "Wives, submit yourself to your own husband," and "She should submit to me, that's in the bible." The ad can be viewed below:

But in actuality, when provided in context, Webster said the exact opposite:

Grayson also painted Webster as a draft dodger. However, records show that Webster was in school during the time and was actually just deffering because of his schooling:

Grayson was extremely controversial when he was in Congress as well. During the debate over health care, Grayson summed up the Republican plan as "Don't get sick! And if you do get sick, die quickly!" This comment drew major criticism from conservatives:

Additionally, Grayson was quoted, when speaking about those who attended the Glenn Beck rally on the national mall in Washington DC, as saying that “These are people who were wearing sheets over their heads 25 years ago.”

RedState.com, a conservative blog, appears to be excited about the prosepct of more Grayson gaffes, with the title of their most recent article reading "we shall have Alan Grayson to kick around some more."

Grayson was trounched by Webster in the 2010 general election, picking up just 38% of the vote compared to Webster's 56%.
